Sure, it means that the sketch of every dimple makes two cuts, one on each side of the ball. Except then you wouldn't need 294 features. More like 186.

Yes it was created in 2001 though this could have been easily determined directly from the STEP file and the feature count was 257 not 294 as mis-stated above

It could have been done in 2001 with 184 features but that would have required one big NASTY pattern table. As implied before, the table pattern contain 36 features and this was grouped with an "additional" datum plane to achieve the "double" patterning of the longitude which is where the extra 72 features went.

To repeat this methodology in WF2 I think would take around 545 features.

Since PTC have returned the datum-on-the-fly functionality to WF3 it can be done (as I originally did it) with a group patterned table based pattern with probably 185 features which is a vast improvement over the giant leap backwards of WF and WF2.

In WF2 the datum on the fly is still available. Choose /Applications/legacy that invokes the menus on the right, allowing feature creation as was done in 2001.

edit: as far as the huge pattern goes, once the initial angles and increments are determined, excel works well to build such a table.
