I have a question on using break lines in 2d Solidworks.

I've been designing for quite a while now in 3d but am currently doing my first set of details in solidworks.

Question: Is there any way to manipulate inserted break lines (other than the standard straight, curved, zig zag, small)? Im throwing an auxiliary view at an angle an want to only show part of it. My method was to break that view and just put the other break line off the page. The problem is that the break lines are massive and I cant seem to make them smaller, turn them off, or put them on another layer.

Hope that made at least some sense...... any help would be much appreciated.

No they will stay that big, but when you rpint them out they don't show up that away. In fact you won't (or shouldn't) see them past the part. Look at the preview if you were to print it.

Question:
Since your inserting in an Auxiliary view what are using (Or planning to use) as your break lines Horizontal or Vertical?

This needs to be an ER (Enhancement Request) if it isn't already. There should be a way to break Auxiliary views like you do a regular view.

You could use crop view. Draw a rectangle, circle, or spline around the area that you want to keep and select the scissors(crop view) on the drawing toolbar and it will crop anything outside of the sketch. BBJT CSWP

You were right, they dont show up.....very strange.

To answer your question I was using vertical, the problem is that it obviously isn't parallel to the part. It would be nice if there was a rotation option on the break line.

Thanks for the help!

The crop view trick worked great. Thanks for the tip.
