Russelectric pretty much owns the standby market for hospitals, at least in my area, mostly because they have done a very good job of getting themselves written into specifications. Their gear is good. others that seem to compete well against them are ASCO and GE Zenith. There are also a number of smaller more specialized switchgear companies that provide very good switchgear for the standby and prime power generator markets like Point 8, Shallbatter, Myers, and Thomson Technology to name a few. Depends on who reps other manufacturers as to who may be available to compete in your area. Also all the major generator set players, like CAT, Cummins, Kohler and Generac also provide switchgear and may be a possible source of competitive bids.
Hope that helps, Mike L.
