Generator installation with jet fuel

Guys/Gals,

I'm currently working on a project to design a generator plant for an airport. The units are to typically run on diesel fuel but can be run on jet fuel in case of an emergency.
Does anyone have any experience regarding this type of installation?
Specifically, do the generators need to be constructed to Class 1, Division 2 standards?
Any other tips or notes regarding your installation you would like to share?

I don't see why it would be a problem but you would need to confirm that jet fuel is compatible with the engine.

Since you're dealing with petroleum distillates, hazardous location electrical equipment is not required.

Kerosine is more volatile than Diesel. Jet A-1 has a flash point at 38 degree C thus a Class Il liquids-liquids having flash points at or above 100 deg f (37.8 degree C). Jet A is a volitile liquid if the temperature is elevated to this temperature, a potential situation for small above ground tanks in many locations.

NFPA 407 covers aviation fuel handling and dispensing.
