Generating a spur gear with a single tooth fly cutter.

Necessity is the mother of all invention.

Some clever programming has gone into this setup.
The way the spur gear is being done is a very good example of the generating process.
However, I'm not so sure that the setup is correct for the helical example.
Looks to me like the incorrect pressure angle is being generated.

Not bad for a guy with dirty fingernails, though. ... and he's still learning.

Forty-five years ago, I worked in Ford's axle plant.
I loved watching the Gleason gearcutters, generating hypoid teeth with straight sided cutters. ... and no CNC.
