Was hoping to get feedback on pros/cons between different gear design software such as KISSsoft, Romax, MITcalc, PowerGear, etc.
We currently use KISSsoft but its clunky and seems like a beta version of software, training isnt readily available, and seems to default to ISO/DIN standards when we try to stick to AGMA. That said, it has a lot more features than something like MITcalc.
Any feedback on your experiences with gear software is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I used MIT and it is a very straight forward program. There are options . For basic gear design I believe it does well. The other option is a spread sheet or math cad and use the AGMA formulas.

Kisssoft is the high end for high critical gear trains . But it is important to get training . It has a long learning curve. But it has a very in depth analysis, contact stress, vibration, efficiency, and more. It is very good at optimizing gears

Our gear guy uses KissSoft and really only designs to AGMA standards. Perhaps it's about reconfiguring it or locating the AGMA calculations within it?

Yes that is correct , the user can chose to use AGMA or ISO.
English or metic data

The US reps for Kisssoft are usually fairly responsive if you talk to them directly.

Talking to them recently, there're some free and cheap training courses on their website - as well as a free training seminar coming up regarding the system software.
