gear assembley in solid works

If you are trying to do this with the move component tool, make sure that you click on the "Physical Dynamics" option in the options window.

ja I have physical dynamics on, and when i rotate either the gear or pinion, the other does not move and becomes stuck itself.(Basically one cannot move the other and they and cannot get passed the other) Physically there's nothing wrong with the setup. Gear and pinion in the correct positions and moving in the correct directions. Made the rods that they are on, parallel and so forth. Using the correct distance from the axis of gear and axis of pinion, from their pitch diameters.

It's possible your system is over-constrained. SolidWorks sometimes allows over-constraint even though it can interfere with dynamics. For example, if you have each gear mated concentric with its bore, and also have the gear axes mated parallel to each other, you are over-constrained (assuming the bores are in a constrained relationship to each other). In this case, you should delete the parallel mate.
