Hi Folks,
I am new to NX with primary experience in CATIA.Can anyone explain me the concept of Gateway in NX?How to efficently handle the ribbon interface?
gateway is the state of NX where no other licenses are used. It will show everything which has been done on Drawing or in 3D but you are only able to do a minimal of functions.
Don't know the exact list of functions which are available, but I think Layercontrol, show/hide, Information, Object Display are some of them.

Think of gateway as the foundation application onto which you add the applications that "do something to the content of the files" but gateway is the one that takes care of opening, saving, plotting etc.
and, never more think of what it is or what it does.
( You can probably compare it to the power supply of a laptop, you need it to keep the applications running but it doesn't add or change anything in the files .
It is more than the welcome page, the welcome page shows up when you start NX and have no part open. You can have an open part in the gateway application. In this case, gateway acts like a viewer application; you can rotate the model around and take measurements, but you can't do much in the way of editing the model.
I think of gateway, as the actual word describes, it's the central 'room', about which all the other applications are structured. ie, it is the gateway to them. BUT, if the license to use a particular application is not available, you cannot pass thru the gateway, into that application.
