Hello, I'm looking for a more efficient method to feed sample gas into our GC. Currently we capture gas using a vaccum tube which pulls gas into a bag, and then forced into the GC. I want shorten this procedure by a method that transports the gas directly from the collection point to the GC. If anyone has any ideas for any methods or products to accomplish this, I would appreciate a step in the right direction, thanks.

Is this a lab chromatograph or an online process analyzer?

Consider a compressor located at the sample probe to "pump" the gas to the chromatograph. An example company is ADI.

A continuous process chromatograph can accept the flow from the compressor. Do not pressurize too high or the volume of gas becomes excessive.

Generally, it is the best peactice to use a small slip stream of your process line to fill up a sample loop on a selection valve. Check out That should have eveything you need to know and more. You can adjust the sample volume, frequency of injection, and other parameters as needed. It is usually easier to get an actuated valve and control it with some software (Labview, etc.) in order to reduce human error, but I have made systems with manual injection valves as well.

Hope that helps.

Slip stream is the way to go I think also.

It is not cheap. You may need to build a analyser building right beside the slip stream point, complete with power, HVAC, humidity control, etc.
