Does anyone have any experience with adsorption aided natural gas storage? Low pressure in this sense is referring to applications less than 500 psig. I have read some scholarly papers on using activated carbon for this purpose but haven't seen it applied in the commercial settings. Is this a commercially available technology? or is it available with alternate adsorbents? I am already aware of issues concerning heat of adsorption as well as the limits of mass flux due to de-adsorption rates. Are there additional reasons it's not commonly used (it may be common and if it is, stick my nose in it)?
Please understand, I am just looking at this in terms of storage, not for gas scrubbing or polishing.
