I'm trying to solve a corrosion problem. I have a zinc plated cold rolled steel cabinet (zinc plated IAW ASTM b633, type 2 - yellow chromate over the zinc). I have an EMI mesh gasket in contact with the zinc/chromate surface. The mesh in contact is tin-plated. Any ideas on a solution to avoid this corrosion? Considering a monel mesh gasket in contact with this surface.

Maybe have your mesh zinc plated & chromated.

Don't understand why monel is considered,
the galvanic series in my materials science testbook
shows tin halfway between monel & zinc.
(I don't have my corrosion handbook with me, does chromating makes zinc passive enough to match monel?)

In a similar situation, the principle suggested, using the same plating on both parts, was followed.
However, it was decided to tin plate the steel rather than zinc plate the EMI mesh.
