I have a complicated pattern to be applied on the face of a cylinder.

I can develop the pattern on the surface with simple math

I drew it as on a plane, a cool developed pattern on a rectangular surface of course.

Now I would like to turn this surface from a plane surface to a surface of a cylinder.

Tough to do using math

Has autocad such utility? or anyone know of a handy technique to work from a developed surface into real surface, at least for a cylinder?

Note that I am not projecting my pattern onto a cylindrical surface, I am simply wrapping it as it is around the cylinder whose diameter is known.

It is a wrapping issue

Unless I missed a meeting, AutoCAD can't do it, in either direction.

I know Rhinoceros can unwrap a cylinder, and I >think< it can go the other way, too.
