Good morning Gents,

API 650 clause 7.5.5.2.a. states where a concrete ring wall is provided under the shell, the top of ring wall shall be ........

API 650 clause 7.5.5.2.b. states where a concrete ring wall is not provided under the shell, the foundation under the shell shall be ...

If we have impregnated board on the concrete ring wall and the annular plate rest on this impregnated board, I should follow clause 7.5.5.2. b.

Your comments is highly appreciated.

1) The impregnated board is not structural, it is not a foundation, use 7.5.5.2.a

2) 7.5.5.2.b. states where a concrete ring wall is not provided....
You are using a concrete ring wall.
Use 7.5.5.2.a

Thanks Mr. IFR.

So the material between bottom plate and foundation is not the issue.

The issue is ring wall foundation or not ring wall foundation.

Correct. The desire is to be supporting the tank shell uniformly and in a level plane. The tolerances are for this reason. The asphalt impregnated board is not supporting the tank, it is performing other functions.
