What is the best way to determine the flow rate in parallel packed bed reactors knowing the total flow rate and pressure drop across each bed?
Is a simple resistance model a good approach, treating the pressure drop as a resistance in a parallel circuit.Suming the individual flow rates from this method gives the total flow rate, but i'm not that confident with this model.
I'm dealing with gas (compressible fluid).
The Ergun equation seemed like a good approach, I can find the superficial velocity, but it does not relate to the total flow rate (one of my knowns).
The pressure drop across the beds is minimal (less than 0.1 inWC) so expansion should not be a large consideration.
Thanks for any help anyone can offer.
