Anyone ever had problems with floating licenses being lost and unable to be regained?

Our license options file has the timeout set to 45 mins...users may go off to a meeting for a hour and when they come back to use Pro/E sometimes a prompt can appear askingto "Save", "Retry", or "Exit". Occasionally Pro/E will regain the license and not produce this prompt but when it does, the "Retry" never works...the "Save" works sometimes but can lead to a crash, and the "Exit" always works.

All this time there are floating licenses available on the server. We have a policy of a screen lock on the machine after 20 minutes, could this be factoring into it somehow? My understanding is that as long as the client can communicate with the server, a license should always be able to be regained. Even with the screenlock on a client should still be on the network (unlike standby).

We are currently running Pro/E WF2.0 build 270, licences are WF3.0 and using FlexNet v10.8.0.10 onsolaris 9.

Thanks

You may want to check the option of using OpenLM to force save if the software in not active for a specified TIMEOUT. This may require some customization but will solve your problem.

Site is: www.openlm.com.

I have left Pro/E sessions for hours or days even and have always been able to regain a floating license. I've never even seen the save/retry/exit option. We use the default timeout which I believe is 2 hours these days (used to be ~20 min with the old license manager). We have screen lock after 15 minutes. Do you have a firewall that is blocking just that one part of the communication? Using windoze these days but used to us HP-UX without problems either.
