I am confused between the terms "penetration" and "opening" in reference to a fire wall assembly. I have checked sections 100 and 700 of the IBC and can find no direct definitions of the terms. Does anyone have any specific definitions?
I would assume that mechanical ducting and electrical conduits would be considered penetrtions, but am wondering about exterior doors and windows.
