Dear Friends,
We have fire monitoring system in our substation starting from 415vac to 66kv voltage level. What does the standard says for fire suppression system for substation?? Is this mandatory or depend on voltage level of substation?? What's does the standard body such as NFPA, IEEE, ANSI, EN or BS recommendations?? or this totally depend on end-user or insurance survey?? I need some feedback or share your experience.
Thanks

Younus

As I understand each country has regulatory agencies who specify the range of transformers for which specific type of fire protection system is mandated. Insurance companies also has specific demands

Thanks for ur feedback. But I am asking for electrical substation only . Is there any requirement for fire suppression system??? what does the standard recommended?

I do not know what the standards say, but it seems to depend on the local fire authority (AHJ - Authorities Having Jurisdiction). It also has a lot to do with the square feet of the building. I have seen substation buildings that only require smoke detection alarms, similar buildings in a different county that required FM200 fire suppression, and even a 115kv GIS building that required a sprinkler system.
