thanks in advance for reading. I typically refer to Raymond H.R. Tide, “Integrity of Structural Steel After Exposure to Fire”, Volume 35 No. 1: First Quarter (1998), pages 26 through 38. in looking at fire damage to structural steel. In my case I have no visual distortion/damage to steel wide-flange beams after a fire (typical 2-story residential wood-framed construction in northeast, USA). The picture attached shows blistering at web, which I think looks like blistering of a coating. Although there are numerous types of coatings, markers, and paints, which may be used on structural steel, they usually are not designed to withstand elevated temperature. Based on your review of the attached photo, do you think I am on the right track?

perhaps something like a hardness test could confirm the properties. are there any such tests recommended in the ref'd text?
