Find flow volume 1

Hi all,

I am trying to find the flow volume of a part that I am working on.

I can find the volume without including the four features before the (last) unite boolean operation using 'delete face' and 'all but selected'. They contribute towards the outlet.
But with the outlet I somehow mess it up.

Any advice/help is greatly appreciated!!

If you have advanced assemblies try using simplify assemblies. Use the internals as external surface.
 
I have played around with the attached part.
I think that you want to "invert" the model, capture the internal volume as the solid body for flow simulation. ?

There seems to be a bug when i do this , either the inlet or the outlet goes missing or a through hole gets created.
you should report this to GTAC.

The workaround I created is
Extract a copy of the complete body
Delete faces - All internal faces of the copy such that the copy only contains the outer shape.
Subtract the master body from the copy. If desired you can check the "keep tool option" such that you can see both the master body and the flow volume.

Thank you for your help.

I had some free time on my hand so tried building the model again. It works with the initial way that I tried(I guess I modeled it weirdly before). But its also nice to know another way (your way,which is easier I think).

Do you think it is possible to find the volume when only surface are involved. For example the same model but with no thickness. Can I still find the flow volume? The delete face doesn't work with surfaces.
