Has anyone used the product filtrexx? Is the product as affective as silt fence? Cost's and maintenance of Filtrexx vs. Silt Fence? The product will be used at topsoil stockpiles, wetlands and fill areas the project is 9 miles long on virgin ground. If anyone has any answers to the above it would be most helpful.

Thanks

dirtqueen I rep materials and services to the municipal and building industry I'm not looking for any new business, but in response to some of your questions cost wise a filtrexx filter sock is about $2.00 lf installed on site with no trenching or disposal costs vs about $3.75 to $4.00 lf for silt fence which requires trenching and disposal you might check Jan. 2001 issue of Biocycle magazine for a third party break down of silt and sedimintation flow rates

Filtrexx is an excellent alternative to silt fence and can also be used for channel flow and inlet protection as well. In Texas we see sock cost from $1.50 to $5.00 per linear foot depending on the sock size, length, and material that is used to fill it with. The true advantages of this product are that it does not require trenching or remomal and can be vegatated if needed. I would highly recommend this product if you need a bmp.
