Filter Pressure Rating

I am selecting a filter for an water application. Some of the Filter information follows:

Change out DP = 25 psi
Max Operating P at Ambient Temp: 60 PSI

If the filter DP never exceeds 25 psi why is the max operating pressure limit to 60 psi? Shouldn't the impact on the filter be the same regardless of the operating pressure if the DP stays within limits?

I don't know your filter data, but the delta P is the differential pressure value at which the element is clogged sufficently to require changeout. This does not guarantee that the filter element will actually be changed. A filter may have a by-pass which will allow unfiltered fluid past the element. This would occur at a higher pressure. The 60 psi is likely a never exceed pressure. It seems kind of low to be a collapse pressure, but again, I don't know what filter you are talking about.

Usually the max. operating pressure is based on the max pressure allowed in the filter shell. This would normally be the input pressure to the filter. You wouldn’t expect to see very high on most water filters , though they are generally around 125 psig.
