Hello everyone,

For a long time we have been using small sintered nickel filters for the inlet of our pressure regulators. The material is great as it is compatible with all the industrial gases we design equipment for. Unfortunately all of our suppliers are indicating that they will stop manufacturing these filters in nickel. I am therefore looking at possible alternatives.

* AISI316L is given as an option by our suppliers, but is not recommended for high pressure oxygen service (at 230 bar pressure it is common in filter elements, but for 320 bar it is not recommended). That being said I would avoid the use of AISI316L all together for filter elements due to kindling chain.

* Bronze is another (good) alternative, but is not compatible for applications involving acetylene (Read: acetone). If possible I would like to avoid using multiple filter materials for different applications.

* Our suppliers can manufacture filter elements in Inconel 600.

My question is this: does anyone have any experience using Inconcel 600 for high pressure oxygen applications?
Based on old NASA testing reports it is a compatible material for high pressures, but as far as I can tell only Inconel MA754 is recommended for high pressure oxygen nowadays (out of all the inconel alloys)

Thoughts?
