I found the drawing indicates size of weld leg 9 mm. The joint is fillet weld of support bar on the clad material. However, clad thickness is only 3 mm.

Are there any problems to size the fillet weld greater than the thickness of clad material? Please comment.

PAN;
The answer is no. It is probable that the designer wanted to assure fusion of the support bar to the base metal of the vessel for strength purposes. Fillet welds are sized for strength as a function of base metal thickness. Cladding is treated like a barrier coating and cannot be taken credit for strength like a weld overlay that is fused with the base metal.

Make sure the support bar fillet weld deposit is cladded to assure corrosion protection in service.

Please note that for integrally clad plate to SA-263, SA-264 and SA-265, both clading and substrate may be considered in the strength calculations per UCL-11 (c) of ASME Section VIII, Div.1. You may weld the attachment directly to the cladding for the attachment with the fillet weld as shown; however, if the load from the structural attachments is high, you may wish to strip back the cladding and fillet weld directly to the substrate tying into the cladding with a filler metal compatible with the cladding, substrate and the attachment.
