In filament wound structures such as pressure vessels what is the accuracy of layers thickness and fiber angles.for example can we say alayer is 1.1 mm thick and the fiber angle is 9.1 degrree or can we be more accurate like 1.11 and 9.12.

Fiber angles are probably held to no more than +/-0.25° in the barrel section and +/-2° in the end domes. Ply thickness will be a function of how tight the resin content is held on the prepreg or wet winding process. The tolerance on cured ply thickness of prepreg materials (nominal thickness ~ 0.008 unch) is typically not less than +/-0.0001 inch (+/-0.0025 mm)

Hi SWComposites ;
Is there any refrence for your answer.Is there any website.

In an optimization procedure angle and thickness are design variables and i want to know how accurate should i be.

In that case you should ask the manufacturing engineers who will be responsible for fabricating the structure what tolerances they can acheive with the specific winding process.
