I am trying to learn how to solve/calculate forces for linear frames and grids, like this:
- frame:Link
or:Link
etc.
- grid: Link
etc.
I have to learn how to calculate on hand, not with fea software.

Also:
1. Matrix [K] for frames is like this: Link is this stiffness matrix the same for all sorts of supporting |-----|, |-----0, etc.? Or do i have to modify matrix, so column and row is 0 (depending on supporting)? Or use the same [K] and when you need do calculate [K]*{U}, where there is no feed in {U}, feed is = 0, you get the same result?
2. And how is the best to calculate - work from start to end in global coordinate system or all elements transform (work in local coordinate system)?

If you have any solved examples, please send scans, links,... to me. Thanks

I've always found working in a global coordinate system easier. You would probably have better luck just consulting a beginning FEA textbook on how to build a stiffness matrix by hand.

Ok, all the elements convert to global coordinating system and get [K]. What about the forces, linear forces and moments? Also needs to be convert to global k.s.?
