Hi,

Can anyone, help me how to do the FEA analysis on webbing strap..The application is lifting a cargo bag..The webbing strap material is polypropylene polyester..I know how to conduct FEA using solid material but this approach need to consider the weft and strands of the webbing material...Is it possible in FEMAP express????

i'd be more concerned about the shape of the webbing, and how it changes under load. wouldn't the webbing be an axial load member ? (why worry about warp and weft ?)

you should be able to quantify the strength of the webbing (1,000 lbs ?) from the manufacturer. he might even have stiffness (load/deflection data) for you, else it's easy to measure it in a simple test.

as for the FEA, i think you're looking for a geometric non-linear solution, maybe rerunning the model with displacements modifying the geometry by hand. how to account for pre-load (the straps would be sinched down over the load) ?

looks like a messy analysis (to get close to the right answer), good luck !
