I am searching for an inert agitator seal fluid for a double mechanical seal. This seal fluid needs to be FDA grade. Currently Fluorinert FC-70 is being used but it is not FDA grade and therefore we must change fluids.

Does anyone know of an FDA grade agitator seal fluid? Your help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Dannybagpipes

Royal Purple has FDA approved buffer/barrier fluids. Your seal vendor might also have some suggestions.

What are the process conditions. Why not use a clean steam if sterile conditions are required?

I think the royal purple products will do the job. Thanks for your responses!

DANNYBAGPIPES IF YOU HAVE ISSUES WITH CONTAMINATION IN YOUR PROCESS YOU COULD DO AWAY WITH A BARRIER FLUID AND GO TO A DRY RUN SEAL OR IF YOU NEED THE PROTECTION OF A BARRIER FLUID YOU COULD USE A GAS SEAL. THIS WILL BE DRY RUNNING AND YOU WILL USE NITROGEN OR ANOTHER CLEAN GAS. THESE TAKE MUCH LESS MAINTENANCE THAN A DOUBLE SEAL
