I've been speaking with a few colleagues in the FEA world, and I'm hearing more about Python being used for quickly extracting and post processing bolt stresses.

Is there something in FEMAP available that anyone can share? I presently have to list axial and shear loads, copy and paste them to excel, and then post process in my rather old excel sheet. Very laborious, repetitive and mind numbing !

P.S. I have zero experience of Python. Is it worth me learning how to use it, or is it best left with someone who already has experience.

Cheers.

Hello!,
Explore the CUTOM TOOLS > POSTPROCESSING, you have a lot of APIs:

Also in FEMAP V2401 you can compute automatically vonMises stress for bolts meshed with CBEAM elements:
MODEL > OUTPUT > COMPUTED VECTORS

Best regards,

Thanks Blas. I'm familiar with the custom tools and they're only doing similar to what I'm presently doing.

It would be great if Siemens were able to provide an Axial Stress and Shear Stress output for beams, as they have done for Von Mises stresses.
If they did, I think this would greatly improve bolt load processing.
Could the von mises output be used by manipulating von mises criterions?

Cheers.

How would you want to calculate shear stress from the given output?
