In regards to this faq, I just tried putting the dimension name into custom properties on the configuration side and got that to work. I entered "D1@CirPattern1@972245-4.sldprt" under the value column, D1 being the name of the instance dimension, put a name on it under the property column then linked my note in the drawing to the property name in the part. Is there a reason what I did wouldn't work in some cases or a reason the faq559-1232 is better? Or am I missing the idea of faq559-1232?

Thanks,
mncad

The idea behind faq559-1232 is to use the length of a sketched line in an equation to represent the quantity of instances in a patterned feature.

Check the Help Index for $PRP for details on adding properties to a note.

See also faq559-1009 for details on creating a template.
