Good afternoon, I am hoping one of you has experience with this old beast.

Laser System: Fanuc C2000A with GE Fanuc O-L CNC (However Parameters look like Fanuc 6M)

Our Com Port on the Fanuc M5 has gone inoperative Alarm 085 after program is sent to it. The Memory Card has another Port M74 that has 0 miles on it. I would like to use it.
Unfortunately, there does not appear to be any documented ways of using it.

Original Parameters:

0002 0000 1000 (this parameter does not exist in our manual)
0018 0100 0000
Input Device 1
Output Device 1
310 0001 1010 (2 stop bits 9600 baud)
311 0001 1010
312 0001 1010
313 0001 1010
340 1
341 1

Tried:
0002 0001 0000 (someone told me this is how to enable M74)
0018 0100 0001 and 0100 0000
Input Device 1 and 2
Output Device 1 and 2
310 0001 1000 (2 stop bits 2400 baud)
311 0001 1000
312 0001 1000
313 0001 1000
340 1 (on our machine this does whatever Input/out put device does and vice versa)
341 1 (on our machine this does whatever Input/out put device does and vice versa)

no matter what I do, if I select Device 2, I get Alarm 086 am I missing some other hidden parameters?

Solved with Help from Tom G over at Nexas Networks, Smart guy. Apparently The O-L has O-M Hardware, but uses the Fanuc 6M enviroment. The 6M did not have the M74 Port, so it was hidden but configurable on the O-L. anyway, I made a quick Procedure so that if anyone has trouble in the future, they can find it. I could not find this info anywhere.

Enabling RS-232 M74 Port on GE Fanuc Series 0-L CNC

1. Set PWE to 1
a. Set Machine to MDI mode
b. Press “SET” and page down
c. Press “P” and “1” then “INPUT”
d. PWE value should change from “0” to “1”
e. Alarm 100 should be flashing now
2. Set Parameter 0002 Bit #4 to “1” (This sets the option to allow M74 Port to function)
a. Press “Param” (you should be on Parameters (General) Screen
b. Cursor to “0002” and Enter “P 00010000” (this sets Bit# 4 to 1)
3. Set Parameter 0340 and 0341 to Device 3 to select M74 Port
a. Page then Cursor to “0340” and “0341” Enter “P 3”
4. Set Parameter 0312 for desired Communication Settings, We use 9600 Baud with 2 stop bits with no Feed or Spaces output.
a. Page then Cursor to “0312” and Enter “P 1001 1010” (Bit 0-3 is Baud Rate, Bit 4 is stop bits where 1 is 2 stop bits and Bit 7 is no spaces or feed fed out)

Note 1: 8 Bit Words are read from right to left Bit “0” being furthest right and Bit “7” Furthest Left. I.E. 7654 3210. “0001 0000” is Just Bit#4 set.

Note 2: Parameter 0002 does not exist in the Manual, but it is required to Enable M74.

Note3: If you want to go back to using M5 RS-232 Port, Set Device parameters 340 and 341 to “1” and set the Communication settings in Parameter “310” as necessary. (no need to change Parameter 0002 or 0312)
