Dear All

Attached you will find one picture of failure, in one 2 Speed Low Voltage Squirrel Cage Induction Wind Generator: 1300/250 KW 690/690 V 1219/248 Amps 1510(4 Y)/1008(2 D) Rpm 50 Hz.

The Failure happened in the Low Speed winding,

What happened ?

Could be currents induced in the unergized winding circulating by transformer action? The problem could occur when the machine was working in low speed and one of the parallel path was opened in one phase?

Thanks for the Inputs

Regards

Carlos

Looks to me that the low speed winding had two parallel circuits and one of them got opened leaving the other to carry the full current.

During the generator works at a higher speed (4Y), the second winding (2D) must be open (both parallel circuits).
