Failed French Drain after 2 Years

Have a basement problem where water was seeping a lot from under a walkout door. A local waterproofing contractor fixed the problem two years ago by installing a perforated pipe (french drain) closer to the door and the water was diverted to the sump pump. However, two years later, the same area is seeping with water again after a heavy rain. The water flow is not as much but enough to see some water puddle on the floor. What other technique could the contractor use to totally prevent the water from seeping? Thanks & look fwd to everyone's feedback. -rico-

Some designers prefer drains constructed with concrete sand. That is because it is a more simple design to have a drain system that uses sand over a slotted plastic drain instead of one with a filter fabric and gravel.

A filter wrapped gravel system is more difficult to install correctly.

You may be having some transfer of fines via the fabric or through the gravel that may be plugging the drain.

Nothing beats proper site grading to prevent water from reaching those places that you intend to occupy ... other than a roof.
