What is the factor of safety for fasteners in BS code install at the structure?

I dont know much about BS, but if they are similar to Eurocodes, you will have to be more specific. There are a bunch of partial factors depending in material/load-situation/failure-mode. See for example EC for fasteners in concrete.

FYI Partial factors of safety are not the same as traditional 'factors of safety' in structural design.

For actual factors of safety, look up 'reliability indices' or 'safety indices'. This is how modern codes ensure they achieve sufficient reliability. There is no generic factor of safety in LRFD type design. Factors of safety are a throwback to older (mostly) obsolete working stress methods.

So you're after the partial factors of safety for BS design rather than the factor of safety achieved in desgn like stated/implied in your question? Just checking to make sure I'm understanding your last response.

I reiterate the partial factor of safety in Eurocodes or BS standards by themselves do not constitute the entire factor of safety or safety indice (the factor by which you can increase loading and not risk failure). Things like load factors, use of appropriate lower bound material strengths and other things like coefficients of variation all are inputs the the final factor of safety.

I don't think it is worth the energy. We seem to be getting more and more engineers on this forum seeking basic information about locale specific codes that they seem unable to acquire for themselves. It seems to me there is an increasing number of "off shore" engineers posting, asking questions that add little to site discourse.

Agent666: I agree with you. I read the question as asking for partial factors, since like you mention, the final factor of safety is dependent on many factors and will vary.

human909: Considering that 1992-4 is relativity new (I'm not even sure it is listed on JRC) I made an exception. However, seeing as OP has just started another thread asking for the same thing but for steel fasteners, I see your point
