I have a cold probe, cylindrical shape, 1.5" diameter 8" long. Side wall is corrugated. Major diameter 1.5" and minor diameter 1".

I need to insert it inside a tube and am soliciting your suggestion to maximize heat transfer between the cold probe and the tube. What material shall I use to fill the gap between the tube and the probe? it's going to be a permanent setup. No need to disassemble later. Thanks.

Doesn't the answer depend on how much heat you need to transfer and how close in the temperature you want the two to be?

I want MAXIMUM heat transfer. Direct metal to metal contact would be ideal but....
