I have an error in a file I've been working on. For some reason, I'm no longer able to "sketch" anywhere - the workplane or on surfaces. So I can't really change any parts (with the exception of scaling, painting, or moving). I would like to solve the problem by exporting all of the parts and assembly (there are quite a few parts all put together in one assembly) to another file. I've tried using the libraries, but I'm able to figure those out (I'm somewhat of a newbie, been using ideas for only 2 weeks now). I've tried an archive file, and that seems to work in exporting all of the parts, but not the assembly! Is there any way to export this assembly? Much thanks to whoever responds!

Try I-DEAS Simulation universal file. It might work for you.

thanks for the help. I finally managed to figure out the libraries (atleast enough to export the assembly). So I used that to perform the task. But thankyou!
