Exporting an exploded assembly from ERA to STEP?

I have to provide a STEP file of an assembly, but with the components exploded.

I figured I'd do it in the Explode/Render/Animate environment... But when I try to save the exploded configuration as STEP, SE tells me "The model contains no bodies. An output file will not be generated".

I would have prefered not to change the assembly constraints, but it looks like it's the only possible way to do this... Unless anyone has a better idea?

Thanks.

Hi,

AFAIK that's not possible. The exploded view is just what
is says a view the assembly itself is not physically put
into bits and pieces

That's what I thought. Well, I'll make an alternate assembly file, with constraints modified to explode the assembly.

Thanks for your response.

I think the explode info is only in the configuration file, which wouldn't mean much to another CAD system so I don't think it's possible either.

KENAT,

Have you reminded yourself of faq731-376 recently, or taken a look at posting policies: What is Engineering anyway: faq1088-1484
