I have an existing 2 way concrete slab.
New equipment will impart a short term point load on the slab.

How can you calculate whether this slab will support this load?
I can get the psf capacity of the slab.

Would you convert the point load to an area load (psf)?
What would you use for the area?

Do you look at two beam strips? One in each direction?

FEA?

Quick and dirty would be equivalent frame in each direction.

Equivalent frame method can be used to determine the capacity of the slab.
Or am I missing something?

How would you deal with a point load located between four columns?
