[Excel 2016] In customizing the Quick Access Toolbar (choosing from 'All Commands') there is the tool to "Open" files, which is the same as selecting File / Open. Either method uses the "Backstage". The "tooltip" when hovering over this selection while customizing the QAT even indicates "FileOpenUsingBackstage".

Is there some way to force this to go directly to [what used to be] the standard Windows file dialog? I can type "Alt+F", "O", "O" to get there. And I suppose I could put those keystrokes into VBA in my personal macro book. But is there a built-in "tool" to use?

hi,

File > Options...check box Don’t show the Backstage when opening or saving files.

Skip,

for a NUance![tongue]

thanks Skip. I found that via Google. Can't say that it really seems to be working, as anticipated at least, and I think some articles found via Google indicated such too. I'll have to take some time later on to figger that one out.

What behavior is or is not exhibited that you expected or not?
