Hi to all,

Does anyone has worked with ASME X and AD-MERBLATT or EN13121-3 codes? These are desgin codes, for thickness calculation of pressure vessels in GRP. our question comes from the fact that the results are quite different in ASME and European codes. We have checked with other companies and they have the same results as us.

thanks to all

Hi Stainer

Thanks for the post. i saw it before, but from the code it refers to it seems that they discuss about metal. in the case of fiber glass refinforced plastics, it seems to be the other way round. i mean that the results in ASME are much more conservative than in AD-MERKBLATT.
All comes from the fact that while european standards use the max tensile strength for calculation, ASME uses YOUNG modulus. So, european standards use the actual tensile strength of materials, and european standards use a stifness value such Young modulus.

thanks for any answer
