ETABS, Computer crashes when entering 3D view with DirectX graphics and plan view zoom doesn't work 1

Hey Everyone

This is in response to closed thread802-504388.

The people in the original thread and I both had the problem where my computer would crash if I entered 3D view with DirectX graphics turned on in ETABS. Their solution was to switch to Standard Graphics. That worked for me.

Then I also started having the problem where I couldn't zoom in and out properly in plan view. The great IT man at my company had the idea of switching graphics cards. My computer had 3 graphics cards, and we switched to a different card. This fixed the zoom problem, and now I can even go into 3D view with DirectX turned on without crashing my computer :).



 
That's an excellent point. When a program is relying on an outside source for their graphics (Direct-X, OpenGL, or whatever) issues like you describe may be related to the graphics card rather than the program.
