well makes 50 b/d +/- oil -- 200+/- b/d water no gas
next 2 days 4-5 b/d +/- oil --- 200 +/- water no gas
well makes 50 b/d +/- oil --- 200+/- b/d water no gas

this pattern has occured for over month
the pattern used to be 4 days low oil production then one high
for two months about 10 b/d more oil about same water prod.

4000' well
rod pump - insert bbl/pump

has to be mechanical ?
hole in tubing ?
problem in treater ?

stumped ?

Not my area, but I know the production guys spent time adjusting pump on/off periods. Also remote telemetry to monitor - start/stop- the pumps.

My guess is that you are pumping too fast. When the liquid level above the pump is high enough (75-100 ft), then the pump fills every stroke and you make 50 bbl/day until you pull the level down enough to not fill every stroke. When the level is too low, the dP between the inside of the barrel as the plunger starts up and the flowing bottom hole pressure is less than the required dP to open the standing valve. It may not open at all on some strokes and open really late on others. It does this for a day or two until there is enough head to open the standing valve every stroke again.

If it is making 58 bbl every three days, you would make more oil if you slowed the pump down to a 20 bbl/day rate.
