Hy all

Q :I have a P8-P8 PQR produced on a SA 312-304L-304L base material with a ER308L filler wire.
I want to qualify a WPS of 316L-316L with ER316L F no,A no and SFA no are all the same.
Do I need to requalify my PQR in this instance or can i use the same PQR....

Regards
Tman

You can use the same PQR if done under ASME Section IX guidelines.

Per metengr, unless impact testing is required.

Thank you guys well appriated......

at stan what you mean about the statement on impact testing coz it is required.....it is also covered(impact) on the PQR in question?
Can u elaborate more

Tman,

First determine whether or not impact testing of the weld is required by the applicable construction code. If it is required, and assuming you're working to ASME Sec IX, review the applicable paragraph for the process under consideration. Eg for GTAW look at QW 404.12.

Filler metal classification is a Supplementary Essential Variable when impact test qualification is required.
