In welding statinless with a GTAW procedure. Would a lift start be considered an equivalent to a high frequency start.

Thanks in Advance

Not the equivelant but it achieves the same end result. No arc strikes or broken tungsten stuck to the base metal.

The equipment I have used for lift start was much more foregiving when crawling through pipe racks and covered with sweat.

In many cases scratch start is used with a regular CC power source.

If your reference to "procedure" is an ASME Sec IX WPS. The arc initiation method is not controlled.
