Does anyone have experience/data regarding Brine Energy Recovery devices (i.e. ERI turbo) used on Brackish Water feed (not Seawater). Is it cost effective for a brackish water feed water or 2 pass RO application?
The answer to your question depends on the expected life of the facility and the cost of electricity in your area. We included them in a brackish groundwater design near Phoenix but the project was ultimately shelved due to the housing market and the economy.
I do believe that it could still be beneficil, especially if you are running at a lowish recovery (say 70%).....you will essentially transfer the energy from your concentrate stream into the feed flow, reducing the size of your HP pump by 30%.
