Hi.
We're a small plastics company. We've got to fit a brake module to a bandsaw, circular saw and a radial arm saw.
I've looked at getting some brake modules for these but wonder if anyone has any experience using these.
Also how easy are they to fit: I'm a qualified electrician but not that great at electronics.
I expect the bandsaw which has a DOL and the circular saw which has a start delta starter to be fairly straight forward.
My biggest concern is the radial arm saw which is switched by a 3 phase, thumb operated, rocker switch on the handle.
(I wired a DOL and an emergency stop button in a few years ago when I joined the company)
How easy will it be to wire a brake module in to something operated off a rocker switch.
(We have a new Health and Safety Executive inspector in our area:she's 24 years old, first ever job, no common sense, and very very very "keen" with no give and take, so I really will have to sort this out or she'll slap a prohibition notice on us on December 1st when the legislaton changes!)

Thanks for the reply.
I actually bought a couple of brake units from MTE.
As the saw had only a rocker switch, I wired that to a contactor to energise the motor and brake unit.
Unfortunately, it was a Friday afternoon rush job.....no wiring diagram...doing it straight from my head....lots of separate junction boxes joined by conduit....one colour wire....run out of cable markers....no real excuse....

BANG

Ooops.

Monday morning saw me taking a bit more care and fitting a new dc brake, and now it works!

Just the star-delta motor to do now.....(!)
