How much clearance is required in front of an electrical panel in an industrial setting?

In Canada this is in the Electrical Code.

What country are you in? In the U.S. this is covered in the NEC, Article 110.26. Working space required depends on what is on the other side and voltage level. There are also requirements for HEIGHT of working space as well as width.

For a typical 120/240V panelboard, you need three feet (900 mm in my 2002 NEC book!)

This means you can't use this space for anything, including storage.

Suggestion: It depends on voltage levels, e.g. 5kV may need 3 feet with an empty space behind, 4 feet with conductive barrier, etc. Check NFPA 70-2002 NEC
