Dear all

Taking account the voltage level, how can be clasified the electric three phase motors?

Low Voltage up to 690 V?

Medium Voltage from 2300 to 6600 V?

High Voltage voltages higher than 6600 V?

Thanks for the inputs

Carlos

IEC defines low voltage as <1000V AC and <1500V DC. High voltage is >=1000V AC or >=1500V DC.

The common terminology I have heard in the US (don't have any standard handy) is that 460vac and 600vac are low voltage and all higher voltage motors are medium.

This would follow from the terminology used for distribution systems where the breakpoint between low and medium voltage is 1000vac. I don't remember the breakpoint between medium and high (30kvac?) and between high and EHV (200kvac?), but it's not very relevant for motors which even at 13.2kv, would still be medium voltage motor.

You probably know: for motors there clearly is some distinction in construction when stress control becomes is required which is somewhere around 6kvac depending on preferences.

"stress control" was referring to voltage stress control coatings and tapes.

Electrical code book divides voltages as follows.....extra low ( 0 - 32 volts ), low ( 32 - 750 ), and high, ( above 750 ).

I've heard low voltage for under 600v, medium for higher

We winders call anything with semi-conducting materials (to control ozone discharge) in the windings High voltage. 6900 volts and above.
