Effective Depth For Shear

I have what is probably a simple question but want to make sure I am right. When analyzing a continuous concrete beam that is uniformly loaded at the top would you take the effective depth from the bottom of the beam in checking one way shear at an internal support (location where you have moment reversal). It is understood that your effective depth for flexure analysis would change, the question is does it change for shear or is it always the depth from the loaded face of the beam.
 
It is the depth from compression face to tension reinforcement.

For codes using MCFT as the shear method, it is from the compression centroid, not the compression face.
 

By definition, ACI 318 ;

d is distance from extreme compression fiber to centroid of longitudinal tension reinforcement.


EC Concrete EN 1992 ( with small discrapency )

d is the effective depth to the centroid of the outer layer of reinforcement..






Use it up, wear it out;
