Dear all,
We have a frame (3 meter High X 4 meter long) as can be seen in attached picture. Left base of column is restrained in X & Y (horizontal and vertical) and other end ( right) is allowed to move in horizontal direction and has only Y constraint.
A force of 1000N is acting in middle of horizontal member.
As expected most of the load is being transferred to left support in horizontal direction. Now as load is being applied eccentrically, it will try to produce moment. This moment is being translated into couple force in Y ( vertical direction) almost equal in value and opposite in direction.
When i am reducing the length of column, couple force reduces and when i increase distance between column (horizontally), this value decreases.
Can any body help me in finding the formula explaining this relationship. I am unable to recall any formula and may be any of you guys can help me
