I noted that Sap is not taken the effect of slender section in design , i did experimental trial by increasing the width of flange and reducing the thickness the local buckling became non-compact then i did it same more time but still the section is non-compact and not jumping to slender ,however as per ASIC if b/2tf is more than (E/fy)^0.5 the section should be slender in local buckling.
Please if anyone faced this issue before advice me otherwise i have to design each section manually

Thank you

What version of the program are you using?

I've done these tests multiple times in the past. I tend to prefer to use fully braced sections and just modify the Fy until I can make it slender. That way, we all know the dimensions that you're dealing with.

Also, I don't just look at the section classification. But, I also look at the capacity of the section to see how it's changing with slenderness and such. I seem to recall an issue I ran into awhile back where I thought the program should report slender, but it wasn't. However, the capacities were reduced correctly as they should have been per my slender member calcs. I remember concluding that it was either a reporting issue or a difference in what type of slenderness we were talking about.

I am using the latest version of sap.
I think sap is not designed the sections in case of slender ,only if the section is compact or non-compact he designed otherwise he will give you unsafe section or overstressed ,I don’t know if this leak in the software or what because slender sections in the built-up sections can easily used specially in the long span.

Thank you
